The Worlds Largest Solar Power Plant

The worlds largest solar power plant is to be built in the United States' Mojave Desert. Because of the deserts dry climate the Sun is free to unleashes its power without any mercy. Since California wants 20 percent of the states power to be generated from renewable sources by 2010, projects such as these seem like a clear solution to their energy demands.

The project is expected to coast $2 billion with an extra $1 billion for additional plants that will power up about 375,000 homes in California. The solar power plants are expected to generate around 500 megawatts and those extra-plants would produce 400 megawatts of energy.
